Job Overview:

As a Nursery Practitioner, you will play a crucial role in providing a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for children. You will work collaboratively with other team members to create a positive learning atmosphere and support children's development through engaging activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and care for children, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
  • Proactively engage with children to enhance their learning and day to day experience through talking, activities and learning experiences.
  • Where requested by the nursery manager, plan and implement age-appropriate activities and learning experiences.
  • Promote social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development through play and educational activities.
  • Create a supportive and inclusive environment that fosters children's independence and self-esteem.
  • Maintain accurate records of children's progress and report any concerns to the Nursery Manager.
  • Collaborate with parents and caregivers to ensure open communication and a seamless transition between home and nursery.
  • Assist with daily routines, including meal times, nap times, and toileting.
  • Uphold the nursery's policies and procedures, including health and safety protocols.
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge.
  • Contribute to the overall positive atmosphere of the nursery, promoting teamwork and a commitment to excellence.
  • Be aware of and adhere to Nexter Ltd's Safeguarding Children Policy and procedures, which can be found on our website here.
  • Identify and report any potential safeguarding concerns to the Nursery Manager and Nexter Ltd's Designated Safeguarding Officer (nick.breeze@nexter.co.uk) following the safeguarding children policy.
  • Promote children's well-being by creating a safe and secure environment.
  • Maintain a professional and respectful relationship with children at all times.

Qualifications and knowledge:

  • Minimum of 3 months experience working in nurseries, or be working towards a recognised childcare qualification, or preferably a Level 2 or 3 qualification in Early Years.
  • Knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage and the 7 areas of learning.
  • For qualified nursery practitioners - maintain a current Full 12 hour (or blended) Paediatric First Aid certificate - to be renewed every 3 years.

Working Hours:

Hours vary by the needs of each setting, however you may request and vary your hours weekly via our office.
